About this ledger
AgentToolDrop lists 71 tools for building with AI agents across 9 categories. Each entry says what the tool does, why you would use it, when to skip it, and how to install it.
How tools are chosen
- It has to be something you can use today: a live product or a public repository.
- It has to matter to people building, running, extending or evaluating agents.
- Install commands are copied from the project's own docs, and every tool page links to the page they came from.
- Listings are editorial. Nobody pays for a spot.
How the drop score works
The ledger is sorted by a drop score from 0 to 100. It adds three parts:
- Curation, 40 points. An editorial weight from 0 to 3 for how strongly we recommend the tool.
- Recency, 30 points. Based on the newer of the last push and the latest release. It halves every 30 days of silence, and is zero for archived repos.
- Stars, 30 points. GitHub stars on a log scale, relative to the most-starred tool in the catalog, so a 5,000-star tool is not crushed by a 150,000-star one.
Tools without a public repository get the middle value (50%) for recency and stars, since we cannot measure them. We only keep snapshots of star counts, so the score does not include star growth and the site makes no claims about it. That will change once enough history is stored. Each tool page shows its score broken into the three parts.
How the data is refreshed
A script reads stars, forks, open issues, license, last push and latest release from the GitHub API and writes them to a file the site is built from. Pages never call GitHub while you browse. The current data was fetched on Oct 15, 2026. Data older than 7 days is labelled stale wherever it appears.
For agents
The same catalog is published as plain files, so an agent can read it without scraping:
- /llms.txt: short orientation and every tool, ranked.
- /llms-full.txt: every tool in one markdown file.
- /tools.json: the full catalog with GitHub data, fetch dates and drop scores.
/tools/<slug>.md: one tool as markdown with frontmatter, for example /tools/aider.md.
For example: curl -s https://agenttooldrop.com/llms.txt
